Sirius Crystal Grids
When I started reading The Sirius Connection, by Murry Hope, Unlocking the Secrets of Ancient Egypt, I was only on the second page of the introduction when I was struck by the mention that Sirius ‘was always depicted as a five-pointed star…… fire, air, water and earth - with Time at the fifth or overseeing, point.’
Time and my relationship with it, is something that I’ve been exploring for a while and for some reason I have struggled in the last few years with linear time which I see as quite flexible. Almost immediately, I felt like I wanted to create a crystal grid but was unsure which crystal to use to represent time at the top. I had a few ideas but none were quite right and even dowsing didn’t reveal the answer. I felt like there was something I was missing and left it to percolate and for the answer to come to me.
Fast forward a couple of months, and I realised that Edwin Courtenay’s upcoming course was on Sirius and in the description he included - The true nature of cosmic time - a key factor in the practising of Sirius Magic and how we might better attune to it. Freeing yourself from the constraints of false linear time that constricts our way of thinking and being, so that took a nanosecond to realise that I had to do it. Again, the grid popped into my mind, still no firm answer on the top crystal but as the course drew near, I felt driven to create a grid and ended up with two.
The first is a simple Sirius grid, taken from Sue and Simon Lilly’sBeyond Crystal Doorways which uses an orange cloth as the base and six pieces of jet. Since booking on the course, an Egyptian crystal head had been calling to be used. Merit Aten, was very kindly gifted to me by Jeni, Judy Hall’s daughter. For the majority of time, Merit Aten sat on Judy’s hall table with her Egyptian, snake necklace doing ‘skull business’. I was with Judy when she bought her in Luxor on my second trip to Egypt and we both craned our necks as we spotted her in the window of a shop as we were walking to find our taxi.
I carried on walking as I didn’t think we had time to stop. Merit Aten, however, had called to Judy and she didn’t hesitate to turn around and go in. When I realised what had happened and that the taxi wasn’t there, I went back and walked in as they were trying to convince the writer of the best-selling crystal book in the world that the crystal was Lapis Lazuli, not Sodalite. It was a bit of a stand-off and the price was way too expensive for Sodalite so I couldn’t see that they were going to find a middle ground and I left the shop to go and wait for the taxi and was very surprised when Judy appeared with an enormous grin on her face carrying her prize, having seriously knocked them down in price! I was extra impressed as she usually hated haggling and often didn’t even attempt it but I guess she knew she had to get her. Judy mentioned it in one of her blogs:-
Merit Aten, my Egyptian Sodalite head, called to me from a tourist shop. Prolonged negotiations and my vehement insistence that she was not ‘true Lapis Lazuli’ ensured that the astronomical price dropped significantly and she came home with me. She’s led several virtual pilgrimages to Egypt since then on our past life and sacred sites workshops and still has a lot to communicate.
I felt excited to include her in a Sirius grid with her Egyptian connection and initially she went in my jet grid, to which I added an energy signature for myself to send me the energies as a gentle, background connection to Sirius:-
Then when I started the second grid I knew that was where she needed to be and she sat beautifully in the middle with her necklace around the outside. Strips of Lapis Lazuli were perfect to create the five-pointed star and to join the crystals. The four elements were represented by natural Blue Lace Agate for Air, Rainbow Moonstone for Water, Fire Agate for Fire and Dendritic Agate for Earth. I was still quite stumped and uncertain about the apex crystal but eventually it came back to a piece of UK Selenite.
I still felt a little unsure about the top crystal, it was almost right but not quite, and the next morning I had an email from one of my suppliers offering more Selenites and I noticed that the unique, directional pieces that I often think look like butterflies, they were calling stars – Sirius – star – duh, of course! And when I checked my stock I found the most amazing star-shaped piece and swapped it for the flat Selenite at the apex. I mentioned the grid to Edwin and he suggested Cintimani Stone, aka Staffordite as THE crystal to connect to Sirius and maybe that was what I was missing but when I dowsed, I got that it was a No, to add to the grid but I could use one during the workshop. Merit Aten seems to be smiling in this last photo. I have felt guilty at times that I haven’t worked with her much and she has spent the majority of her stay with me on the side, but I then remembered that she spent the majority of time with Judy on her hall table. I did take her with me to Glastonbury last year when I was running a joint workshop with David and Helen of Petaltone essences and she was at the centre of the grid we created for the weekend. She caught everyone’s attention and I made sure that everyone got the opportunity at the end to hold and connect with her, if they wished. Her energy was buzzing!

Whilst sharing these grids with Edwin, I asked him to let me know if he found out what they were up to! He confirmed that the five-pointed star was definitely representative of Sirius and that Merit Aten ‘is in some way anchoring this energy or at least a wisdom aspect of it though I wonder if this is just for you – the group or the world…..
Time I suppose will tell….’
As I read about anchoring the wisdom there was an enormous clap of thunder immediately overhead – the gods or goddesses spoke!
And the phrase, ‘time will tell’ resonated with me, not only as time was so connected with the grid and course, but also as it reminded me that one of the many interesting treasures I found buried in my back garden was this:-
Maybe it is ready to tell now, I mused, and the musing continued to recalling the other items that I found, most of them upside down, hmmmmm….And as I mused I was looking out of my office window at a small flower bed at the front of the house….and then I suddenly remembered that I had also found some interesting items there. The small bed was barely visible under a pile of rubble and disintegrating old pots and so it was quite a long job going through it, sifting out the soil and any surviving flowers or bulbs from metal hoops, pieces of wood, old roots etc. In amongst it, I found some perspex or plastic shell shapes:-
And then I started finding small stars, and kept finding them, and kept finding them! There were loads for such a small area. I think I gave some to neighbours’ children who kept coming to say hello and ask what I was doing. Recalling these memories I was feeling a rising energy of excitement and also a possible, very big ah-ha moment of synchronicities and I quickly searched through my old photos, almost holding my breath – yes, oh my goodness, those stars were five-pointed!!!!
I excitedly dowsed and got an immediate Yes to adding them to the grid but my excitement faded and I left the grid as it was for several days as I couldn’t find the stars, until I received another reply from Edwin and immediately I knew where they were, as if this was all about timing….hmmmmm, do we see a theme here?
Here are some updated pictures with 13 five-pointed stars around the original grid, as the number 13 is strongly associated and linked with Sirius. When I checked, I had 44!!! I guess time will tell whether that number is significant!
